chain of consumption mind-web
You will be creating a mind-web in this activity that will tie together everything you know or learn about your place in the chain of your own consumption. By the end of these 3 days, you will have created your own, personal mind-web. AND IT WILL BE BEAUTIFUL!
Let's think about your relationship to the products you personally use. Based on some of your research from last week, and from the video, what are some of the personal effects or consequences of your consumption?
Task 1: Put yourself in the center of your mindweb and jot down some of the items that you use/consume daily. We will create a master template for the whole class based on this initial input.
Question: What are some of the immediate effects or consequences of what you consume?
For example, consider the following:
Task 2: Let's spread out the circle a bit. Starting from these new branches you've created, we are going to add some related information. Consider some new questions:
Where do these items you consumed come from? From whom?
Where do they go after they leave your hands? To whom?
And even wider - what had to happen for these items to get to the people who packaged them for? What might be the original materials that made them? And what had to happen for those resources to get to the factories that made them?
I have some resources for you to use to start your research. As you discover information, keep adding these bits to your mind-web. Once you've exhausted these resources, find more on your own.
